Arrange – New Window, The Big Picture

Posted on 2012/04/19 at 23:55 by daarken 12 Comments

Working zoomed out can allow you to see the “big picture” and make sure everything in your composition flows well and that your image reads. There are times when you need to zoom in, forcing you to lose sight of the big picture. Daarken shows you how to create a new window of your painting that will allow you to keep the big picture in mind while you work zoomed in.

Cool. I had to watch it for a second before I figured out what the point of the feature was. I get it now though. It’s just something that I can’t do in oil painting and it sort of streamlines the process.
At some point in the future you should do a tutorial on buildings. I know it’s just a lot of perspective but it could still be cool. I think a lot of people have trouble with backgrounds/

This is great for those of us with dual monitors also, especially if you use a Cintiq. You can put the second window on your secondary monitor to refer to the image as a whole when you are zoomed in and working on fine details.

All videos are very useful so far. Are you planning to explain how to apply color into black&white picture in photoshop? I mostly paint in greyscale, then i have big problems in colorizing my works.
