Female Standing Pose – Part 01 Line Drawing

Posted on 2012/03/16 at 00:13 by daarken 3 Comments

This is the first part of a new series about drawing a female standing pose from reference. In this first part Daarken goes over the line drawing and how to fix your drawing using different Photoshop tools and techniques.

The reference photo was taken from Marcus Ranum’s deviantArt site. His gallery is full of great reference material, so be sure to check it out. Link to the reference image used in the tutorial.

Doing line drawings is WAY harder on a tablet than with a tablet pc or something similar. I can definitely understand the frustration. Owning a tablet pc is pretty much what allows me to do any digital art.

Again a very good tutorial. The finished product looks fine enoug, line drawing on a tablet is hard and frustrating. Glad i was fortunate enough to buy the small cintique. It is so freakin handy when it comes to line drawing but also for the whole work flow.

Can’t wait for the next tutorial, thanks for all this usefull info Daarken, very much appreciated.

I thought it was interesting the way you drew the face, and didn’t draw the dark shadow across the face. Then, after I thought about it for a moment, I realized that I probably would have done the same thing since you can’t see anything in the shadow.
I hope you do the tutorial on construction lines too. I would like to see it.
